Emergency medical ambulance service is provided by Ambucare under a contract with the Haralson County Commissioners. In addition to being the emergency 911 provider for Haralson County, Ambucare provides critical care transport services and non-emergency transport services. The company also provides First Responder training at local high schools, CPR training, and medical coverage for all major sporting events.

Ambucare operates six equipped and staffed Critical Care Transport Ambulances. The Critical Care Unit is staffed by a certified Critical Care trained team. This crew usually consists of one Emergency Medical Technician intermediate and at least one certified Critical Care Transport Paramedic. A second certified Paramedic or a contract Registered Nurse may be utilized when the patient’s diagnosis or condition warrants.

Critical Care is provided to Haralson County and extends from north and west of Carroll County to Bremen, Temple, and Buchanan; north to Polk and Paulding Counties; and west toward Alabama reaching down into Waco and Tallapoosa. Ambucare provides this Area Coverage by strategically placing Critical Care Responder Units throughout Haralson County.

Ambucare’s non-Emergency routes cover all of the Critical Care Transport areas of Haralson County. In addition, services extend south into Carroll, Heard, and Troup counties; east into the City of Villa Rica and Douglas County, and even as far as Atlanta.  Ambucare has an advance life support (ALS) staffed day truck, which operates from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. to handle non-emergency transports. In addition to ALS transport, Ambucare provides wheel chair services via its non-emergency wheel chair transport van. This van is also utilized during business hours to aid the elderly and disabled in obtaining proper medical care.

Ambucare has a close working relationship with area air transport services such as Rescue Air 1 Flight Service and Emory Flight. Both of these services utilize highly trained crews to provide emergent transport for patients whose condition warrants faster arrival to the hospital than available by ground, significantly decreasing the time to definitive care.

Haralson County utilizes a system status management approach and has direct-line access to both flight services. This allows instant access to this invaluable live saving service. In the event a patient’s condition warrants both services, and the nearest airship is dispatched to the scene, saving valuable time in a life threatening emergency.
