Animal Control

The Haralson County Animal Control Department and Shelter provide services to residents by picking up and removing stray pets, enforcing animal control laws and providing a place for unwanted and neglected pets to be rescued. Call 770-646-6622 or email for information.

If you rescue a stray animal, you can take it to the Animal Shelter Monday-Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.and Thursday from noon until 5 p.m. If you are aware of a stray animal, we recommend for your safety and the safety our staff that you call our office before attempting capture. Animal Services can be contacted at 770-646-6622. Animal Services does not respond to stray animal calls after hours unless an animal is injured, aggressive, sick or has bitten someone. Animal Services does not respond to feral cats.

Kittens are not normally abandoned by their mothers so if a litter is found, the shelter encourages residents to leave the kittens where they are. The mother is probably nearby and will likely return. If they appear sick, injured or in immediate danger please call the shelter for instructions and best practices.

If you have lost a pet, please visit our Facebook page for the latest updates on pets in our care. Shelter staff is available to reunite lost animals with their families by appointment only. To make an appointment to be reunited with a lost pet or speak to a shelter representative regarding your lost pet, please call during our regular business hours.

Anyone interested in adopting a pet, volunteering or visiting the shelter, as well as all licensed rescue groups, is welcomed. Please have a current copy of your driver’s license if you wish to adopt a pet. Click here for a list of pets at this shelter. The regular adoption fee is $25 and there is no fee for licensed pets.

Haralson County Animal Shelter is following all guidance provided by the CDC and the National Animal Control Association in response to COVID 19.
