Keep Haralson Beautiful

Keep Haralson Beautiful was created by local residents to give everyone an opportunity to be an active part in transforming the community where we all live, work and play. According to the organization website, "When we take care of our environment, we're invested in changing our perspective of that environment. So we've created open projects that involve all aspects of community improvement, such as planting trees, litter pickups, revitalizing properties and building green spaces."

Keep Haralson Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful.   Volunteers participating in Cleanup Events, Litter Pick-Up on the Tallapoosa River, Recycled Electronics Program, school and public Activities for Children and Arbor Day are important to reaching the goal of a clean environment and pollution free waterways. Your contribution counts. The cumulative number of volunteer hours per event and amount or weight of litter/recycled items, including electronics, collected for the fiscal year represents a significant cost savings for the county. These calculations are reported on the annual Litter Index and Cost Benefit Analysis Reports submitted to Keep America Beautiful and is included in their annual report.

Picking up litter in Haralson county has its obvious advantages: roads and properties are neat and clean, pests and rodents stay away. But the other benefits are harder to see - unless you look for them. Benefits such as a sense of community pride and accomplishment, getting to know your neighbors during projects, increased property values and increased safety. The list goes on.
