Finance Department

The Finance Department is an Administrative Department and handles, among other things, accounting, budgeting, accounts payable, payroll and employee benefits. The Finance Department advises the County Commission on fiscal and budgetary matters. The Finance Department also provides assistance and advice to the County Clerk, department heads and the Board of Commissioners in procurement and budget planning.

The department is responsible for:

  • Accounting for all financial transactions
  • Disbursement of funds
  • Facilitating budget development and implementation
  • Monitoring of revenues and expenditures
  • Periodic and annual reporting and projecting of County finances
  • Facilitating the annual audit
  • Management of the county treasury
  • Procurement of goods and services
  • Fixed asset inventory

The Finance Department procures materials, supplies, equipment and services for county departments at maximum dollar savings while ensuring the required quality levels. The department strives to treat vendors and contractors fairly and equitably and maximize competition when possible, while protecting the integrity of the county in all areas of procurement.
