Enhanced-911

Haralson County’s E-911 Center is the centralized public safety answering point for all 911 calls within Haralson County including the cities of Bremen, Buchanan, Tallapoosa and Waco. The Haralson County E-911 Center is responsible for providing the most effective emergency communications service possible, realizing response time is critical in emergency situations.

The Haralson County 911 System is an enhanced system, hence the "E" in front of the 911. This means additional equipment has been installed that displays the caller’s name, address, and telephone number for all landlines (cell phones do not provide this information), an extremely important tool for the E-911 operator if the caller is unable to speak for whatever reason, including trauma or illness. Regarding wire lines the 911 center has resources that provide coordinates for the location which help to narrow the vicinity down.

The Communications Center dispatches for the following agencies:

  • Haralson County Sheriff's Office
  • GSP Notifications
  • Haralson County Fire Department
  • Ambucare EMS
  • Bremen Police Department
  • Bremen Fire Rescue Department

Ways To Help

  • Be sure the location information you are providing is where help is needed and not necessarily your personal address. In times of emergency, it is easy to give the information most often used
  • Understand the 911 Telecommunicator is asking all information to verify where help is needed, and additional questions are obtained to assist the responder in knowing the needs of the caller/s, victim/s, or patient/s. The 911 center has multiple employees which allows one person to ask the caller information while another is dispatching required units.
  • Do not call 9-1-1 for telephone information. See your telephone directory or use 411
  • Keep your telephone company informed of any changes in your name and address.
  • Be sure your house numbers can be seen easily from the street by emergency personnel. Post numbers on both sides of your mailbox. Post a sign with your house number on it at the end of your driveway.
  • If you dial 9-1-1 by mistake, do not hang up. Wait until your call is answered and explain that you misdialed. If you hang up, the Communications Officer will try to reach you. If the Communications Officer is unable to reach you, a law enforcement officer will be sent to your location.
  • If you are calling from a cellular or wireless phone, your location will not be displayed at the E-911 Center. You will have to give the Communications Officer your exact location. Also, you may find that your call has been answered by a 911 Center in another County give them your information and they will forward the  information or transfer your call to the proper authority.
