Juvenile Court

The Haralson County Juvenile Court is organized under Chapter 11 of Title 15 of the Official Code of Georgia. The Court is dedicated to serving the residents of Haralson County. Haralson County's Juvenile Court is part of the Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit, which also covers Polk County. Crystal Bice presides as Chief Judge.

Haralson County Juvenile Court hears all cases involving allegations of dependency of children under the age of 18, delinquency, unruly conduct, or traffic violations concerning children under the age of 17 found within its jurisdiction. Additionally, the Juvenile Court handles emancipation, parental notification of abortion, mental competency, and transfers from the Superior Court.

The Superior Court has exclusive original jurisdiction over juveniles who commit certain violent felonies, which are provided in O.C.G.A. § 15-11-560(b). The Juvenile Court’s jurisdiction over custody matters is secondary to Superior Court, which handles all the custody matters in this circuit.
