The Clerk of Superior Court is an elected position established by the Constitution of the State of Georgia and as such, is one of four Constitutional officers. The clerk's statutory duties are found in the Official Code of Georgia in hundreds of statutes created by the state legislature. The mission of our office is to provide the public with the highest level of personal and professional service possible. The Clerk of Superior and Juvenile Courts office is responsible for:

  • Filing, recording and indexing all documents related to real estate within Haralson County, including deeds, plats and cancelations.
  • Filing and processing for service of all divorce cases, adoptions, name changes, child support, change of custody and contempt.
  • Filing and processing all Juvenile cases
  • Filing and processing for service all civil cases relating to suit on account, condemnations, appeals from magistrate and probate court, writs of possession, insurance, etc.
  • Filing, recording and indexing all judgments, tax liens and FIFA's
  • Filing and processing all warrants, indictments, accusations and sentences on all felony and misdemeanor cases.
  • Processing sentencing packages for sentence review panel and Department of Corrections for transfer of prisoners into the state system and applications for sentence review.
  • Filing and processing all Uniform Commercial Code (UCC's), liens on personal property for public notice.
  • Preparing records of all appeal cases in the Civil, Domestic and Criminal Divisions for the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia.

The clerk and deputy clerks desire to help all parties that ask for assistance and will attempt to do so.   The clerk and deputy clerks are strictly forbidden to practice law by statute and are restricted in what they can give advice about or assistance in preparing. Any assistance given by this office should not be considered legal advice. Sound legal advice must only come from a licensed attorney and the clerk ’s office encourages all parties to seek competent legal advice. We ask that you be understanding with our staff as we attempt to assist you, knowing the limitations we face in assisting each individual party to a case.

The Clerk of Superior Court and Staff are available only from the office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 


 

Clerk of Court Amy Muse, a Haralson County native, grew up in Bremen. Prior to her election in 2020, Amy spent 20 years as a paralegal. She earned a degree from Brenau University in applied computer science and math, and attended court reporting school for three years where she developed her passion for the legal field. She and her husband Jared Muse and son Brayden own and operate Muse Farms, an 80 acre farm founded in 1953 by the Muse Family, which has been transformed into venue and event center near Bremen.
